FAQ
Who makes the jewelry?
Most pieces are made by Linda Holiday in her Calgary studio using traditional silversmithing: carved in wax, cast, and finished by hand. Chains for permanent jewelry are sourced from quality manufacturers and welded on by Linda.
What metals do you use?
Only solid metals. Every gold and silver piece we sell, from the Heirloom Collection to our permanent jewelry chains and charms, is solid sterling silver or solid karat gold in 10K, 14K or 18K. Gold comes in yellow, rose or white.
Nothing is gold-filled or plated. Solid metal won't wear through or flake, so your piece keeps its colour and lasts for years. (Our leather bracelets are finished with stainless steel magnetic clasps.)
Are the charms handmade?
Some are. Linda has started making her own charms, and the rest are sourced from trusted suppliers. Every charm and link is solid sterling silver or solid karat gold, just like our chains.
Are the Heirloom pieces really one of a kind?
Yes. Each piece in The Heirloom Collection is carved and cast individually. When it's gone, it's gone.
How is permanent jewelry priced?
Chains are priced by the inch, so the final price depends on the chain you choose and your size. Charms and links are added at their listed price.
Does getting permanent jewelry hurt?
No. The weld takes a second and no heat touches your skin.
Can I take my permanent jewelry off?
It's made to stay on, but it can be snipped at the connecting link if needed, for example before a medical procedure. Contact us about having it re-welded.
Where can I get permanent jewelry?
At markets around Calgary in our mobile studio van, at a private event you book, or by arrangement at the studio. See How Permanent Jewelry Works.
How do I care for my jewelry?
